The Savage Rivale Roadyacht GTS

The only 4 door "Topless on Demand" supercar in the world

Glass top drops in less than 20 seconds

The Savage is a celebration to design, derived from driving a car as an emotional experience.

It's about sensation: "Far away on the corniche you hear the sound of a supercar roaring through the mountains. The V8 revving and blowing. Then suddenly from around the corner approaches a charging beast, shocking your senses as it rages to the next corner. When it passes by the sound slowly dies echoing."

It's what I call 'Corniche Heaven', but let creators Emile Pop and Justin de Boer enlighten you further: Welcome to The Home of Savage

GT by Citroën

The Citroën GT supercar originally a joint project between Citroën and the makers of the Gran Turismo video game, was said to be powered by a 782 hp, high-tech fuel-cell engine in its virtual reality world, now it's here for real.

Citroën has built a roadgoing model, and Citroën's, Director of Products and Markets, Vincent Besson has confirmed, due to its popularity, that a limited production run of about twenty units could be considered, power coming from a GM or Ford V8.

The Citroën GT is due to appear at major events in the coming months: The Nurburgring 24 Hours race, the ”Grande Parade des Pilotes” at the Le Mans 24 Hours, and the UK Goodwood Festival of Speed.

Green GT

Green GT rolls out sexy e-supercar.

LMPE2011 set for race and road debuts.

Leccy Tech Hot on the heels of its recent leccy racing car announcement (http://www.reghardware.co.uk/2009/05/13/greengt/), Swiss car maker Green GT has unveiled designs for its next-generation Le Mans Prototype (LMP) racer that could also, potentially, become a road car.

Designed by a team of students from the International School of Design at Valenciennes in Northern France, the GreenGT LMPE2011 is certainly eye-catching, although we don't recall Le Mans race rules allowing air brakes - assuming that’s what those four sculpted carbon fibre pop-ups actually are.

Underneath its Imperial Stormtrooper helmet-inspired shell, the car features the same chassis and power train as the GreenGT. Register Hardware believes this attribute makes the latest super-slick racer more likely to see the light of day than some of the usual electric supercar vapourware we’ve come across, such as the KTM AX (http://www.reghardware.co.uk/2009/03/12/crazy_car_designs/).

Christophe Schwartz, Head of Engineering at Green GT, said the LMPE2011 “could become our 2011 Le Mans Prototype electric racer”.

“It would be amazing to create two prototype race cars to compete in the 2011 24 hours of Le Mans,” added Schwartz – hinting that both the LMPE2011 and recently unveiled GreenGT could make it into LMP races in the near future.

Eco-minded rich boys may also want to put some cash aside, because Schwartz said that the LMPE2011 “could even become an electric road going supercar”. ®

Veritas RS 111

True race feeling - the continuation of a 1940's success story.

1948: A Legend is Born

On the basis of the BMW 328, Ernst Loof, Schorsch Meyer and Lorenz Dietrich build the first 'BMW Veritas' and begin an incomparable series of racetrack victories in 1949:

A Veritas wins its first race in front of 300,000 fascinated spectators in the first race after the Second World War. All in all, the successful racing car wins 13 German Championships and takes 29 first places within just a few years.

From 1951, the 'Veritas-Nürburgring' is made in the pits of the Nürburgring racetrack.

In the same year, the unparalleled development of the racing team is crowned by the participation of a Veritas Meteor in the Swiss Formula 1 Grand Prix:
Which makes the Veritas the first German Formula 1 racing car ever.

Even today, the fascination exercised by this legendary racing car is as powerful as ever.

With the RS III, Veritas is launching the next generation – the continuation of a success story that simultaneously heralds the beginning of a new era.

The Veritas RS III, the modern version of the first German Formula 1 racing car, leaves you in no doubt about its heritage thanks to its impressive design, perfect engineering and incomparable responses.

The sheer power needs to be mastered– without the invisible help of today's otherwise omnipresent electronic aids, such as anti-skid brakes, traction control and power brakes.

The Veritas RS III recreates the pure feeling and fascination of an authentic racing car: true race feeling.

The Veritas will debut at Salon Privé London this July and production will be limited to 50 units.

Sports Car Replica

Winterhalter's $8,000 Ariel Atom sports car replica

This one is sure to impress both the hardcore DIYers and the auto lovers. The Ariel Atom is one true minimal sports car with race bred construction and components, and the replica Ariel Atom by Winterhalter is equally impressive. Winterhalter has been earlier featured in Car and Driver magazine for his homemade Lotus 7 that cost him a mere $2,500. This time, he has made a replica of the high-performance English two-seater, the Ariel Atom. The base model of the sports car starts at $65,000 and goes as high as $90,000, depending on horsepower. On the other hand, Winterhalter’s replica Ariel Atom costs $8,000 in materials. It’s not the low cost or the make that makes this replica special, but the fact that 57-year-old Winterhalter has never seen one, estimating that only 40 Atoms exist in the United States. He has used photographs to scale the frame and read manufacturer data for all the rest. The whole process of creating this awesome replica took 1,900 man hours over 28 months. And yes, it isn’t an exact replica.

Design study by Seongjun Ko

Alfa Romeo Berlina Da Corsa

When I saw the Berlina Da Corsa design study by graduate Seongjun Ko of South Korea's Hongik University, pure desire sparked off an emotional recall of the Alfa Montreal, the SZ and the Alfa Romeo 2000 GTV, heady days in deed.

Could this be the catalyst that precipitates change or is Alfa already on course - the Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione oozes form, and the Mito sure looks like the 8C's little brother.

GTA Spano

His Spano, no pun intended?

After 15 years of top automobile motorsport, five years ago GTA Motor decided to go one step forward and make director Domingo Ochoa´s dream come true; build a super sports car that combines all the automobile technology with perfect, sportsmanship, elegance and exclusivity.

Designed by GTA Motor´s engineering director, Valencian-born Sento Pallardó, the GTA Spano is born.

It's easy to discount this accomplishment, as just another generic supercar, but don't, the GTA Spano boasts the most advanced technology, innovative aesthetics, studied aerodynamics and a good number of solutions for the future, all of which are capable of competing with international prestigious brands in terms of image and performance.

GTA has developed a special engine for this car, and has opted for a V10, 8,3 litre engine placed in a longitudinal rear position. It develops 780 hp and 920 Nw torque propelling it from 0 to 100 km/h in under three seconds and on to a top speed of over 350 km/h. As an extra option, the concept is also available in a Bioethanol version, which increases the power to 840 hp.

The chassis has been built completely out of carbon fibre, titanium and Kevlar, with rigidity four times greater than many commercial supercars, it's not only safe but light, weighing in at 1350 kg (approx).

High quality materials such as leather, carbon fibre, aluminium and titanium have also been used in the interior design, ensuring quality and elegance throughout.

As a sign of its exclusivity, only 99 models of this extraordinay supercar will be built to order.

Lotus Evora

The Stunning New Lotus Evora 2+2

With class leading driving dynamics, fuel economy and emissions of just 205 g/km of CO2, the new Lotus Evora raises the bar for world class high performing sports cars.

The first all-new Lotus since the iconic Elise roadster made its debut in 1995; the Evora enters the sports car market as the world’s only production mid-engined 2+2. The mid-engined layout gives exceptional agility and the Lotus engineered suspension ensures incredible ride and handling.

Powered by a Lotus-tuned 3.5-litre V6 engine producing 276 hp @ 6,400 rpm, and weighing just 1382 kg, the Evora delivers an exhilarating experience. Straight line performance is spectacular, with the zero to 60 mph sprint taking place in just over 4.9 seconds with a top speed of over 162 mph.

Because one of the roles of the Evora is to attract new lifestyle customers, as well as performance aficionado’s to the Lotus brand, the Evora offers a more refined ownership experience than Lotus’ existing smaller four cylinder models. The cabin is beautifully styled, trimmed with sumptuous leather and complemented with contemporary high-tech features; it offers both luxury and comfort. Careful attention has also been paid to its ease of use: wider, taller door apertures, narrower sills and higher seating positions make getting in and out of the cabin a less athletic undertaking. If you're 6ft 5in tall the Evora's cabin will accommodate you.

As well as being sold in a 2+2 configuration, the car will also be available as a two-seater, the space in the rear being allocated to luggage storage. Other derivatives are also planned for the long term future, including a convertible and a version with automatic transmission.

First deliveries of the eagerly anticipated Lotus Evora will be made to customers in Europe during May 2009.

Caterham Superlight R300

Uncompromised Driving Hardware

Best Selling Caterham is back. Caterham’s famous ‘Superlight’ family is now complete with the release of a new generation Superlight R300.

Following in the rear tyre tracks of the motorsport derived R400 and R500, the latest Seven punches from 0-to-60mph in 4.5 seconds courtesy of a new 2.0-litre Ford Duratec engine, tuned by Caterham Powertrain (CPT) to deliver a responsive 175bhp.

Originally launched in 2002 and fitted with a Rover engine, the previous R300 was Caterham’s best-selling Seven thanks to an addictive character fuelled by its perfect blend of performance and driving pleasure. The new Ford-powered model builds on this platform with increased engine performance and chassis developments, all whilst retaining the R300’s winning personality.

The latest 515kg interpretation of Colin Chapman’s famous ‘lightweight minimalist’ philosophy beautifully balances power and chassis to perfection, delivering an impressive 339bhp-per-tonne.

Among many developments, the new R300 benefits from styling cues and technical evolutions first seen on its ‘big brother’ – the explosive Superlight R500 – with the addition of a similar flush button dash design and keyless ignition system, fitted as standard.

Amongst a wide range of optional extras, hardened enthusiasts will also be able to add Stack data logging instrumentation, a dry sump oil system and, for track-day regulars, a limited slip differential.

Translated through Caterham’s proven 6-speed gearbox, the 2.0-litre powerplant’s 175bhp and 139 lbs-ft of torque is able to spin the R300’s bespoke Avon CR500-shod Superlight aluminium wheels to a top speed of 140mph.

With more power, more torque and more immediacy, the Superlight R300 will start at £24,995 in component form and £27,995 factory built.

The Prince's Rainforests Project

Vox Volvo P1800

Koenigsegg engineer Mattias Vöcks unveils plans to remake the iconic Volvo P1800

It’s a classic that’s young at heart! Swedish designer Bo Zolland has replicated the original bodyshell of Volvo’s iconic P1800 Coupe – the car featured in the Sixties TV Series, The Saint – and equipped it with a host of modern upgrades to create the ultimate retro GT.

A new front wing, side-skirts, flat underbody and active rear diffuser all help to improve the aerodynamics, while the deep-dish oversize alloys and re-designed interior give it a more modern appearance.

The 1961 original produced just 100bhp from its 1.8-litre engine, but this 2009 remake sets its sights much higher. Squeezed under the bonnet is Volvo’s current 4.4-litre V8, but with a turbo bolted on, turning power up to around 550bhp.

Zolland’s design was commissioned by Vox Customs – a Swedish coachbuilder run by a man who hand-builds Koenigsegg supercars as his day job. The P1800 remake will enter very limited production, but there’s no word on price just yet.

PPI Razor GTR

German Audi-tuner PPI Automotive Design GmbH presents the special limited production supercar the PPI Razor GTR.

Following the introduction of the wildly successful PPI R8 Razor at last year's Essen Motor Show, PPI Automotive Design have used all its knowledge from the past year of competition, closed races, open road races, research and development in the wind tunnel, autobahn and track testing, to create a truly inspired production car. The Audi specialist turned its focus on optimising the power to weight ratio of the Audi R8 while simultaneously strengthening the motor, increasing performance, improving handling dynamics, and managing to reduce the weight of the Audi R8.

The essential part of the motor alteration is the incorporation of a specially engineered supercharger. In addition, a ram-charged sport air filter system and high performance exhaust system made of stainless steel have been designed and added specifically to work in conjunction with the supercharger system. These components are precisely adjusted to each other with the help of a new ignition map for motor electronics.

The result, after this extensive modification, is a car with 580 hp / 427 kW at 7,400 rpm, a maximum torque of 600 Nm at 6,200 rpm at its disposal, and a weight decrease of 250 kg over its serial counterpart [serial curb weight 1,580 kg], providing the PPI Razor GTR with the ability to achieve speeds from 0 to 100 km/h in only 3.7 seconds with a maximum top speed of 323 km/h. This insures the proper performance to easily meet the demands of its motor sports and enthusiast clientele.

Ferrari 599XX

Based on the 599GTB Fiorano, with the same transaxle layout and engine type, the Ferrari 599XX is an extreme track car. Ferrari's engineers have carried out extensive work on the engine's combustion chambers and inlet and exhaust tracts. These modifications, combined with the fact that internal friction has been reduced and the maximum revs have been boosted to 9,000 rpm, help to develop the target power output of 700 hp at 9,000 rpm. A new gearbox shift system cuts overall gear-change times to 60 ms.

An innovative electronic concept, Ferrari call 'High Performance Dynamic Concept', has been designed to get maximum performance from the car by managing the car's mechanical limits with the potential of its electronic controls. A second generation SCM suspension system improves the handling. Track usage is also made easier thanks to the new 'virtual car engineer', a screen in the car that provides a real-time indication of the vehicle's efficiency.

Aerodynamically the car now boasts 280 kg of down-force at 200 km/h (630 kg at 300 km/h). The front underside of the body is completely faired-in and the vents that channel hot air from the engine bay have been moved to the bonnet. The use of a porous material in the diffuser and two fans in the boot, which channel the air flow from under the car out through two grilles next to the tail lights increases the down-force and cuts drag. F1-derived 'doughnuts', which partly cover the brake discs and wheel rim improve aerodynamics and cool the brakes.

The carbon-ceramic braking system , which now incorporates brake pads made from carbon-fibre delivers shorter braking distances and is generally more efficient due to the weight saving.

Race orientated the Ferrari 599XX is one well honed track car. Unrestricted by any sport rules or regulations it's not street legal though, so you won’t be driving it on British roads.
